To Louise Tully and Naika von Sontausen SchH2 CD on their NEW Schh3! Louise and Naika took high Protection in Trial with 98 points as well as an impressive 95 points in tracking. Congratulations to this wonderful team!

And to Anne Conroy and Quest von Sontausen ("Scout") on earning thier Schh1 with 93 in protection!
No grass growng under Ann and Mr. Scout. They got their SchH2 this weekend and will now take a break before the schH3 in the spring.

The Prestigious PAM

Awarded annually by the German Shepherd Dog Club of America, the Performance Award of Merit, or PAM goes to those dogs which have demonstrated a high degree of accomplishment and versatility in performance events. Titles must be earned in three different venues: either from Tracking, Schutzhund Obedience, Agility, or Herding, and one of them must be at the highest level. SchH3, VST, UD, AX, HX
In 2007 six dogs earned this accolade, and three of them were von Sontausen dogs. It is our goal to produce truly versatile and talented dogs, and we are proud to acknowledge this prestigious award, and grateful to the handlers who make that extra effort to excel.

Dee continues to amaze us! The team won a big class at the 2008 GSDCA Nationals in Agility as well.

Tiara von Sontausen TD ( "Tia") who earned her AKC Tracking Title (TD ) at six months!
Tia started her tracking career early- at 5 weeks!

on earning their new CDX and RAE titles!
Donna and Nadya blasted the competition at the 2008 GSDCA nationals with a first place to earn her Novice Jumpers Preferred title!
Nadya is owned trained and loved by Peter and Donna Murray of Connecticut. She has introduced them to the world of the working dog and they have done a terrific job of keeping their "working girl" busy.
When she isn't tracking, training for schutzhund and obedience or keeping her "brothers" in line, she visits hospitals as a TDI certified Therapy Dog.
The Murrays are also home to the adventurous Qiro von Sontausen, Bh.

Louise Tully with Naika von Sontausen CD IPO1 SchH3 : Showing excellent form and training, the team took High Protection (98 pts!) and joined the Schutzhund 3 Club with a smashing performance at Stanislaus Co. SchH Club.

Rixi von Sontausen is owned and trained by Shay Cook, owner of Insect Detection Dogs. Rixi's job is to search for and detect the larvae of the vine mealybug, a pest which can decimate wine crops. Her ability to pinpoint the infestations and identify insects where none were known to be can save farmers tens of thousands of dollars and remove the need to use excess pesticides on this food crop. Rixi is also training for her schutzhund titles. This is her recreation after a hard week of bug finding!
Here she is shown on an actual job where she locates and alerts Shay to an infestation. Good job, Rixi!

Betsie von der Yohaus SchH3 FH UD
Betsie is without question the best ambassador for the breed I have ever met. It would take more pages than there are to describe all her wonderful qualities. Now, at age 14 she spends most of her time snoozing on the lawn and dreaming of younger days, but she still insists on a walk every night and will run after the young 'uns for the ball. She has helped raise every litter of puppies , although she never had any of her own, and imprinted them all with her wisdom.
She taught me more about training than anyone and she has been a joy every day of her life since I first saw her at 7 weeks.

PAM Lark von Sontausen SchH3 FH FH2 CDX TD HT
is the reigning Queen Mum at von Sontausen. She has produced a phenomenal number of fine working and sport dogs ( N Litter through R Litter) and although retired from breeding, she is not ready to stop working. She is still training in herding, obedience and tracking and will be overseeing her grandchildren as they grow and mature.

PAM FHCh Ira von Sontausen IPO3 FH CDX TD
Pictured here at age 10, she still likes to track and retrieve.
Ira was the 2002 North American FH Champion and earned a Front and Finish Platinum Obedience Award the same week. Her drive for obedience is exceeded only by her passion for playing ball. She is the official greeter at von Sontausen and no one gets out of the yard without throwing a Cuz ball for her.

Nick-Nik von Sontausen SchH3 WD3 TD
Lark's son Nick has had a fine career, winning the North American SchH2 Championship at age 2, followed by the Northwestern Regional Championship in his debut SchH3, and has been in the top 10 or higher in every competition since. Most of all, he is a world champion snug-bug and the most delightful companion. He is an excellent tracker and has recently discovered sheep herding, so we have a lot still to do.

Reza is our newest addition, a daughter of Lark bred to Calimero MaKeRa SchH3 FH.
She is showing extreme talent in tracking and high enthusiasm for protection work. She earned her TD certification at 7 months and is aiming for her first titles in 2009.
